Curious Frog Theatre Company

Curious Frog's mission is to present new, modern and classical works with the goal of showing a new, multicultural perspective through non-traditional casting that does not hinder understanding or believing a work, but rather enhances the work in an innovative manner and fosters fresh perceptions.

Shakespearean #trumpet playing fighter….or just actor….

Curious Frog Theatre Company is seeking one more actor for our summer production of Shakespeare’s Julius Caesar, which just started rehearsals and opens August 20th.

Actor must have some experience with broadsword and be physically able; we will be fighting with swords, shields, daggers and spears.  Fight director Rocio Mendez; director Robert J. Dyckman; producer Renee Rodriguez.

Rehearsals are week nights and weekend days, in the parks.  All actors in the ensemble play a conspirator and/or fighter, additionally with some individual speaking, some general (commoner, crowd, etc.).  There is a long battle scene which involves fight choreography, with several folks on stage at once.  Should be extremely fun if you enjoy combat.

This is an AEA showcase; however, we are seeking only non-AEA for this role track.  This is our summer community project, so everybody involved in the production is a volunteer—cast, crew, directors and producers are donating their time and talent.

Performances run some week nights and most weekends, August 20-September 11, and tour NYC parks throughout Brooklyn, Manhattan, Queens and one park in the Bronx.  It’s a gorgeous, fun way to spend the summer.

This is CFTC’s fifth season of free summer Shakespeare. You can check out our mission statement and our past shows at www.curiousfrog.org.  Please contact me immediately if you are interested and available, as we are looking to audition actors as soon as possible.
